    Day 2         What A Nerve!

Here is an amazing story. You just have to read it and ask: is this really saying what it seems?

"Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.'

Then the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.'

I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man's persistence, he will get up and give him as much as he needs. So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" (Luke chapter 11 verses 5-13)

This story about prayer was told centuries ago by Jesus. He said we can pray with persistence and boldness. He tells us to keep asking for things. He wants us to keep going because he has good things to give us. So ask!

    Try praying this:

God, I want to understand this idea of persistence. I need you to come through in a number of areas of my life. So I’m asking you to give answers. And I’m choosing to believe you are good and you only give good things. Amen

    Keep on praying for:
    • Your Big Issue –that thing you really want God to make a difference to.
    • Others –your friend or family member who needs help.

    Tight Spot

    God met me more than halfway;
He freed me from my anxious fears.
Look at him; give him your warmest smile.
Never hide your feelings from him.
When I was desperate, I called out,
and God got me out of a tight spot.
    (Psalm 34 verses 4-9)

    something you could do today

Get a grip!: Carry a pebble in your pocket/bag and every time you put your hand on it pray: “God, I want you to be the solid thing in my life.”
